“Everything you can imagine is real.”

Journal Entry: Wed Jan 9, 2008, 9:59 PM
(Pablo Picasso)

Imagine…

A young woman lies down on her back, relaxed and naked; she is taking part in a photo shoot. Her skin is fair and smooth all over, one can scent a pleasant delicate aroma of soap radiating off her. The camera travels along her and gets closer to her genitalia, gently, not at all in an invasive way, in view is her labia, tightly closed, looking almost fused together. At very close look one could notice shy goose bumps on her skin and very few delicate hairs.

She lies there quietly awaiting the other woman in the room. The photographer motions to the other woman to approach the model and explains how he would like to stage the photo. He would like her tongue to come out close to the labia, very close but never touching…

Several clicks of the camera follow in fast succession.

That’s all.
A given moment in time.
There, yet at the same time not there at all.
Something that might have happened, yet never did.

A photo can be an opportunity for our thoughts to carry us where we would like to go, a photo can allow us to be carried by the magic of our own imagination.
Our imagination, so much more powerful than reality is!!!

Perhaps this was the attraction of the ‘TouchDown’ photo. The reason it received so much attention, so many viewers and comments. The reason DA took it down so abruptly although it DID NOT violate a single policy I could find.
(Wish I could provide a link here for you to look again and decide for yoursleves)

I can only take it as a compliment.

Wishing you all a most wonderful 2008, a year blessed with wild and uncensored imagination!

I did have the pleasure of viewing this photo and reading how it was captured, makes it imprint in my memory also. Thank you for that description, it has made it even more real now ...

It was indeed a wonderful piece, I have complained about many crude versions of real violatating photos that have had thousands of views yet left upon here whilst art and beauty such as yours is taken away... the ops here should be removing the truely offensive images and not stunning art and the description is breath taking, keep up your excellent work Davis you have now and will always have my full support

Is it not the job of the artist to push the boundaries, to fire the imagination, to explore and explode emotions within the viewer?

We, as artists, should embrace the images, ideas and inferences that stir these emotions. It is our greatest tool.

The emotion of the artist when creating an image, is totally irrelevant to the viewer, because the emotion the viewer sees attached to the image, is purely thier own.

The true conflict then, only comes when the emotion stirred within the viewer, is not acceptable to the viewer. If they cannot accept that part of themselves which has been awoken, then they cannot accept the image that awoke the the emotion.

In their eyes it is the image that is at fault and should be despised for creating the emotion, not themselves for having the emotion in the first place.

A photograph is nothing more than a record of light. A painting is nothing more than a mash of pigment and binders on a surface. The artist merely adds the imagination... it is the viewer who adds the emotion.

Nothing was ever created, that was not first imagined. Imagination creates reality. We supply our own emotion.

I never did see it either, but your description of the photo is lovely! I'll keep watching you though, no matter how many of your pictures get removed!

When I hear someone say they give "110%" to whatever they're doing, it makes me feel good inside, because I know I'm not as big a moron as that person is.

Did you submit it with a proper mature content label? Perhaps with Strict/Sexual flags? I would very much like to see that image. Erotic art is an interest of mine, particularly when done very tastefully and artistically.
